Bridging the Chasm Railway Talk | Michael Ross
January 29 | 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Join us on Wednesday 26 January at 5.30pm for a special talk by Michael Ross, a Whakatere Ashburton local, about the history of railway here in Waitaha Canterbury.
Michael will discuss a general history of the Great Southern Railway, including the men who worked on trains and the final trains seen around the district. He will also explain the connection that his 10-year career at the Parcel Office has to the railway, and how it affected his own life.
Featuring a tour of our exhibition Bridging the Chasm: 160 Years of Ashburton District Railway, this talk will be a great opportunity to learn more about the Great Southern Railway!
