Summer Holiday Activities

This summer, we have free activities running every day! Drop in anytime between 10am and 4pm to get involved. Check out our list of activities below.


Design your placemat 

16 December  – 14 January | 10am – 4pm

Check out the ‘New Zealand Night’ menu in our From Table Service to Tasman Glacier exhibition, and create your own placemat.


Colour the River

22 December – 14 January | 10am – 4pm

Our foyer wall has been taken over by Iain Cheesman’s artwork The River Is. Have a go at creating your own colourful river using dots!


Art Lab: Wind and Waves 

22 December – 14 January | 10am – 4pm

Our pop-up art space will be taking inspiration from David Elliot’s exhibition Wind and Waves. Have a go at drawing wind and waves or create a creature that flies in the wind or swims in the waves.


Art Lab: Exploring Landscapes 

15 January – 04 February | 10am – 4pm

Come along and experiment with different materials and create a landscape inspired by our local landscapes and Chris Pole’s exhibition Crooked Spur. 


Learning to Stitch

15 January – 18 February | 10am – 4pm

Taking inspiration from our Suffrage and Stitches exhibition, try your hand at practicing different stitches.


Holiday outreach

16 January

Methven | Mt Hutt Memorial Hall | 10am – 12pm

Mayfield | War Memorial Hall | 2pm – 3.30pm

Come along and take part in crafty activities with the Gallery and Museum team.
