Opening and Artist Talk | Negativland : Erebus

April 13 | 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Negativland : Erebus by Will Hadwen is our new foyer wall commission.

Will Hadwen is an interdisciplinary artist based in Wellington, New Zealand. With a Master’s in Fine Arts from Massey University, his practice explores light, space, trace, and time through photography, immersive installations, and painting. Negativland : Erebus is the latest development in the ongoing Negativland series, emerging from his voyage to Antarctica with Heritage Expeditions. The installation, filling Ashburton Art Gallery and Museum’s foyer wall with large-scale canvases, evokes the vast, otherworldly essence of Antarctica. Inspired by landscapes seen at Mt Erebus, the work reflects themes of exploration, environmental conservation, and the timeless, altered perceptions experienced during the artist’s journey.

Join us for the opening and an artist talk by Will on Sunday 13 April at 2pm.
