Janet Abbott talk | Christchurch Capital of Culture 1900-1950

March 6 | 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us for a talk with Janet Abbott on March 06 at 6pm!

Was Ōtautahi Christchurch the centre of culture in Aotearoa in the first half of the 20th century? The city produced some of our best-known artists of the period, including Sydney Thompson, Rita Angus, Rata Lovell-Smith, Bill Sutton and Rhona Haszard. There were also the Canterbury School of Regional Landscape Painters who painted the local landscape in an Impressionistic way.

Janet will give an illustrated talk looking at some of the better-known and lesser-known artists who flourished in Christchurch during the troubled decades of the early 20th century.

Wednesday 06 March | 6pm

Please note that this talk was previously advertised as being on March 10. The correct date and time is 06 March at 6pm.
