In Crooked Spur, Chris Pole’s less traditional landscape paintings use a diagonal ‘slice’ to offset the image. Inspired by his travels through the Southern Alps, Kā Tiritiri-o-te-moana, these paintings bring the viewer into the landscape as a ‘participant’ rather than an ‘observer’.
